Not many tourists make it up here from Mui Ne, the tourist strip. You can tell. The curious locals tell you at a glance. Check out that camera-totting foreigner! Rich bastard! Along the top of the town you go and then down to the 'beach'. Well, it's got a lot of other stuff apart from sand. It's the fishing village after all. Down at the foreshore and wandering along the high water mark you pass fish-processing buildings. Further along heading back to the tourist town [and to the left if your up on the lookout point where the tourist buses stop] you're amazed to come across some really interesting old colonial buildings. It's obvious these are not maintained. Most are unoccupied. Truly amazing! Kilometres on as the sun goes down, you catch up with Maurice on the beach for an hour. He's outside his beach-side guest house. It's a coincidental meeting and a much-needed break from wandering along the sand.
You get back to the room exhausted. The power's on again all evening and night. Impressive. So you have an excellent time watch some of your music shows on the new flat-screen Samsung. It's got a great sound. The 3 in 1 coffee and nicotine keeps you going...as usual. And all this for $7per night. About 3am you fall asleep.
